Cornerstone helps end homelessness, one family at a time, through Family Promise of Grand Rapids and the IHN Ministry (Interfaith Hospitality Network). For over 20 years Cornerstone has been a host congregation, providing food, friendship and shelter for families in a housing crisis, one week at a time, up to four times each year.

How You Can Help

You can help by donating food, or a couple hours of your time on-site at the 84th Street Campus. Each IHN rotation has two possible sign ups – one for Food Donations, and one for On-Site Volunteers.

Donate Food or Supplies

We have a list of food and supply needs for the families at IHN for the week. You can choose what you'd like to donate when signing up. Some examples include:

  • Fruit: Bananas, Apples
  • Supplies: Detergent, Containers, Cups
  • Meijer Gift Cards
  • Food: Cereal, Eggs, Bread, Popcorn

See below for signups.

Volunteer On-Site

You can volunteer at the 84th Street Campus by:

  • Setting up or tearing down the family living areas.
  • Bringing in and serving a meal.
  • Playing with the kids.
  • Sleeping at the church as an overnight host (you’ll have your own room).

See below for signups.

IHN Cancelled for 2020

For the rest of 2020, Family Promise has  suspended churches hosting IHN Families due to COVID-19. As soon as we have any updates or more information, we'll put it here, and on the Cornerstone Facebook page.
