Workshops at Cornerstone

Workshops are one-night classes offered on the second Wednesday of the month (except October 2023). They offer a schedule-friendly way to learn, ask questions, and meet other people!

The next workshop is Wednesday, November 8 from 6:30-8pm at the 84th St. Campus. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED!

Guest speakers: Richard Tenhoor and Sue Toman

Wednesday, Nov. 8 6:30-8pm @ 84th St. campus in the Worship Center

Join us for a special Cornerstone Workshop as we welcome guest speakers Richard TenHoor and Sue Toman in to share with us on this crucial topic.

“On May 14, 2013 our son, Eric, died by suicide or as we believe died from depression and ADHD.  He was 22.  On the outside, doing well, newly married, being considered for a promotion at work, kind, and generous.  Yet, we did not know that on the inside he was hurting.  We did not know his level of pain, his lack of hope, or that he was considering suicide.

We want to share our story, but in the context of hope.  Our families and faith community can play a crucial role in suicide prevention.  We will look at some of the warning signs for suicide and how simply asking the question, “Are you thinking about suicide?” can be the doorway for someone to help and hope.”

After their son's Eric's death, Richard and Sue both became certified to teach QPR -Question, Persuade, Refer, an evidence based suicide prevention workshop. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlech Maneuver help save lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

Recommended for adults only, or older teens who are accompanied by a parent.  There will be time for Q & A at the end of the workshop, as well as conversation about further resources Cornerstone Church can offer to those who struggle with their mental health.

Torah Club is a serious and intentional weekly study where disciples of Jesus study the Bible from a Jewish perspective by going through a year-long curriculum together. Torah Club helps people to know Jesus and His message better while teaching us how to apply the Bible practically to our lives. By the end of a year of Torah study, you will have a much better understanding of your Bible, be connected with new friends, and have a closer walk with God!

We are starting a new study in October called “The Beginning of Wisdom,” which will be direct, counter-cultural, and biblically rooted, calling Jesus’ disciples to magnify their fear and love of God. If you’ve been curious about Torah Club, now is a great time to join!

Meets at 84th St. campus every Tuesday from 7-9pm. To contact the leader or sign up, click here.

Emotionally Healthy Courses

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality and Emotionally Healthy Relationships classes are the core of our discipleship learning at Cornerstone. Look for new offerings in beginning of the new year.

Membership Class

This class is a basic introduction to our church family, and is designed to clearly explain what we believe. You'll hear the values, history, structure, and future vision of Cornerstone, as well as what it means to be a member. The class ends with an opportunity to officially become a member of Cornerstone Church. The location of the class rotates to each campus, but you don’t have to wait for it to come to your campus! All three pastors will be teaching for each class.

What is Cornerstone Membership?

Being a member means committing to Cornerstone Church and our mission of Helping People Know Jesus and Make Him Known. Members regularly attend worship, belong to a small group, and get involved with time, talent, and treasure. Just as the greatest commandments from God are to love God and love others (Matt 22:36-40), God calls us to commit ourselves to Him, and to one another (Eph 2:19, 2 Cor. 8:5).

By becoming a member, you're saying, “This is my church. This is the community of faith where I will give and be given to, where I’m going to serve and be served, where I’ll love and be loved.”
