Alex grew up most of his life in West Michigan. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Sociology degree. His theological education as a Local Pastor has come through the Michigan United Methodist Licensing School and The Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
Alex has filled many different roles within Cornerstone over the years. He served as a lay leader in Student Ministry for seven years. He also co-led the development and implementation of Cornerstone’s Young Adult Ministry, The Haven, where he led for 6 years before becoming a pastor.
Alex officially joined Cornerstone’s staff as a Campus Pastor in 2012 and planted Cornerstone’s first multi-site campus in the downtown Grand Rapids Heritage Hill community in October of 2013.
Prior to becoming a pastor and joining Cornerstone, Alex was employed at Herman Miller, Inc. for 17 years. He served as manufacturing leadership in Continuous Improvement and as Operations Plant Director of various divisions for 14 years. His last 3 years, he served as a Senior Manager of Corporate Diversity and Inclusion, championing diversity and inclusion efforts within the company, community, and globally. He also has career experience in the automotive industry, human resources, and sales and marketing.
Alex and his wife Bethann have been married for more than 20 years. Bethann is also employed by Cornerstone as Director of NextGen where she has served for more than 15 years. He and Bethann have two children, Grant and Maya.
